As currently serving or retired firefighters, Adena Fire consultants and engineers have seen the damage and suffering caused by fires in the home. We would like to give you some tips on fire safety in your home, as suggested by the Fire and Rescue Service:
Smoke Alarms – Make sure you have alarms on every level of your home and regularly check that they are working – replace batteries when necessary
Candles – Always remember to put candles out. particularly before you go to bed or go out
Fire Spread – Close inside doors at night (particularly to your kitchen) to stop a fire from spreading.
Escape – Make sure everyone knows their escape routes in the event of a fire. Ensure exits are left clear from clutter. Keep door and window keys where they can be found quickly.
Cooking – Check that your cooker is turned off after use and before you go to bed.
Smoking – Stub cigarettes out properly and dispose of them carefully. Keep lighters and matches out of reach of children.
Electrical Appliances – Turn heaters off and ensure fireguards are put up, before you go out or go to bed.
