Who needs a fire risk assessment?

In short, the current legislation requires that any workplace with five or more employees, or the common areas in residential flats, must have a Fire Risk Assessment carried out and for it to be reviewed regularly (in general it is considered best practice for the assessment to be carried out annually). Failure to do so could result in your premises being served with enforcement or prohibition notices by the Fire Service, often resulting in loss or disruption to your business.

Your Fire Risk Assessment report will provide recommendations in laymen’s terms as to the actions that need to be taken to make your premises safe for everyone that visits or works in it. Not least, we make sure you have the right tools and information to ensure your compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

  • All of our Assessors are serving or recently retired officers from the British Fire Service, and have passed a Fire Risk Assessors course that is affiliated to the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE).
  • Your Fire Risk Assessment will be carried out in accordance with PAS 79 which is the recommended methodology of the IFE and BSI – (British Standards Institute)
  • We understand the legislation inside out, and know how best to implement it and make it work for your business, offering the most cost-effective fire safety solutions.

It is often advantageous to have a Fire Risk Assessment to identify any additional requirements you may need to fulfill such as training and fire emergency plans. Training can also be tailored to your own premises, where Adena Fire has previously undertaken a Fire Risk Assessment. We offer a package price for clients who have a Fire Risk Assessment and Training on the same day, at the same site.



In general, where a building is currently undergoing significant building works (such as refurbishments or changes of use or occupation), a Fire Risk Assessment would not be suitable until completion of work.
